I have several times visited Borobudur temple and never bored. The beauty and grandeur make me want to visit again to this temple. And this is the first time I want to enter into the picture story on my page. Borobudur temple is located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. Location of the temple is approximately 100 km Southwest of Semarang, 86 miles to the west of Surakarta, and 40 km northwest of Yogyakarta.

Located in an elevated area between two twin volcanoes, Sundoro-Sumbing and Merbabu-Merapi, and two rivers, the Progo and the Elo. According to local myth, the area known as Kedu Plain is a Javanese 'sacred' place and has been dubbed 'the garden of Java' due to its high agricultural fertility.

Borobodur Temple is the largest Buddhist monument in the world. Built in the time of King Samaratungga of Sailendra Dynasty in the year 824. Borobudur was built 300 years before Angkor Wat in Cambodia and 400 years before the grand cathedrals of Europe.

According to Prasasti Kayumwungan informs that Borobudur finished build at 9th century. In 1991 UNESCO establish Borobudur Temple as world heritage building. In Vesak Day, Borobudur becoming a sacred place for Buddhists. Thousands Buddhists come to the temple to commemorate Sidharta Gautama's birth.

For admission Borobudur is now worth Rp30.000 per person and Foreigner USD 20. Rules of entry at the Borobudur Temple is also strictly not allowed to bring food to the temple. Different now when I go into the temple of Borobudur is sarungisasi visitors. That means visitors have to wear batik sarongs provided by the clerk to enter the temple of Borobudur.

With all the grandeur and mystery that is, only natural that many people from all over the world enter the Borobudur as a place worth visiting in his life. Besides enjoying the temple, you can walk around to the villages around Borobudur, like Karanganyar and Wanurejo to see the activities of people make crafts.

Did you know:

Borobudur was built by King Samaratungga, one of the king of the ancient Mataram kingdom, descendant of Sailendra dynasty. Based on the inscriptions Kayumwungan, an Indonesian named Hudaya Kandahjaya revealed that Borobudur is a place of worship that was completed on 26 May 824, almost one hundred years since the beginning of construction. The name of Borobudur, as some people means a mountain having terraces (budhara), while the other says that Borobudur means monastery on the high place.

Borobudur built as for Buddhists's ritual, there are 1460 reliefs carved from bottom to top about the way being a buddha. It's a mountain statue with 10 level of high that represent as 10 ways of Boddhisatwa wisdom or Hhumtcambharabudara. Height 42 meters before being renovated and 34.5 meters after the renovation because the lowest level is used as a barrier. Six lowest level of a square and three levels above and a circular highest level of Buddhist stupa facing to the west. Each level represents the stages of human life. In accordance schools of Mahayana Buddhism, every person who wants to reach the level of Buddha must through every level of life is.

The architect who designed it was Gunadharma. It takes more than 2 million blocks of volcanic rock to build the temple of Borobudur. Stones, which were taken from the river around the Borobudur Temple. Interestingly, at that time they did not use glue, cement, or the like. Interesting technique to lock into a sticky rocks and hold for centuries are 'Key L'. Consider any foothold at Borobudur. The rock is not shaped like a structured ceramic boxes. However, a the rock forming the letter 'L'. An incredible method that has been discovered centuries ago.

Borobudur has 10 levels and 3 main of Buddhist teachings, The level of Borobudur divided into 3 main part. The base of Borobudur, called Kamadhatu, symbolizing human beings that are still bound by lust. Four levels above referred Rupadhatu symbolizing human beings that have set themselves free from lust but still bound manner and form. At these levels, a statue of Buddha placed open. Meanwhile, three levels above where the Buddhist stupas are laid in holes called Arupadhatu, symbolizing human beings that have been free from lust, appearance, and shape. The top part is called Arupa symbolizes nirvana, where Buddha is residing.

Each terrace has beautiful relief panels showing how skillful. Relief that will be read coherently when you walk in a clockwise direction (towards the left of the entrance of the temple). In the reliefs of Borobudur tells of a legendary story, the Ramayana. In addition, there are relief panels describing the condition of society at that time. For example, relief of farmers' activity reflecting the advance of agriculture system and relief of sailing boat representing the advance of the cruise, who was based in Bergotta (Semarang).

Land as Borobudur foundation is divided into two, namely the native land and the land prepared or artificial. Manufacture of prepared soil adapted to the shape of the temple. Calculations every inch of the temple's construction was done correctly and accurately. Therefore, it can be regarded as the architect Gunadharma a reliable as well as a genius physicist.

Some say, the manufacture of Borobudur aided by aliens or aliens. However, the manufacture of Borobudur is more directed to the amazing science. Borobudur manufacturing technology in the past, be evidence of how great this nation.
