Grand Palace is Undoubtedly one of Bangkok's most Famous Landmarks. |
For just about 150 years, Bangkok's Grand Palace was not only the
home of the King and his court, but also the entire administrative seat
of government. Within the crenelated walls were the country's war
ministry, state departments, and even the mint.
Our stay in the area Khao San Road, Grand palace not far from where we were staying could walk to get there about 10 minutes. Does not feel tired because while enjoying views of the city park Bangkok.
Admission Fee:
Admission to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the Central Court of the Grand Palace is 350 Baht (11.62 USD).

The Grand Palace Bangkok Complex. |
The Temple of the Emerald Buddha is Thailand's most sacred site. Visitors must be properly dressed before being allowed entry to the temple. Men must wear long pants and shirts with sleeves -- no tank tops. If you're wearing sandals or flip-flops you must wear socks (in other words, no bare feet.) Women must be similarly modestly dressed. No see-through clothes, bare shoulders, etc. If you show up at the front gate improperly dressed, there is a booth near the entry that can provide clothes to cover you up properly. You must leave your passport or credit card as security.
Hours: The Grand Palace is open every day from 8:30 to 3:30, unless it's being used for a state function, which is quite rare. Be careful of outs working outside the palace area who tell you its closed, and suggest their own guided tour instead. They're most likely lying, and their 'tour' will be to several shops where they get commissions on your purchases. Free guided tours in English are available at 10:00, 10:30, 1:30 and 2:00. You can also rent an audio guide for 100 Baht (3.32 USD) plus passport or credit card to secure return.
Royal Grand Palace, Bangkok.
While
the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and Grand Palace grounds are open
every day when not being used for state functions, the audience halls in
the Grand Palace are closed on weekends. You can only gain entrance to
see the magnificent thrones on weekdays. The Royal Pantheon in Temple of the Emerald Buddha is only open one day a year, on 6 April.
Complexes of the most fascinating though is the Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of Emerald Buddha. Contrary to its name The Emerald Buddha is actually carved from jade and sits just 70cm high. Although smaller in size compared to Wat Pho, Temple of Reclining Buddha, is Thailand's most sacred shrine, visited by hundreds of locals and tourists every day.
Tips:
The best time to visit the Grand Palace in Bangkok really depends on personal preference, but most agree that the best time is between November to March, winter Thailand. This is high season for tourists as the climate tends to be more bearable then the summer of Thailand, with average temperatures around 25 ° C or 72 ° F
Be careful not to fall for scams by local communities in both transport you and when they try to persuade you to another temple, saying that the Grand Palace was closed. They do this for tea money, and generally end up bringing you to the edge of town to make many stops at the gem store or tailor. Your best bet is to find a metered taxi for transportation whenever you can, which in some cases can be difficult, but persistent.
